Proper Tools Often Lead To Amazing Scientific Discoveries
For a month I have been blessed with a cold fusion/lenr reactor on my lab bench that just won’t stop.
Sitting beside it patiently observing brings a surprise with each new moment.
I am more of a naturalist and birdwatcher than nuclear physicist, but in this new atom-ecology, I am in a new and undiscovered country where there is nary a footstep to be found.
It is a world of wonders.
The thing that is proving to be my muse for scientific discoveries is a basic ‘hot dry’ reactor in which my deuterated fuel mixture is activated by heat. It is happy to operate and offer these remarkable new nuclear reactions between room temperature and 1200 C. The remarkable thing is the continuous radiation it is producing is so clearly above background. I have been transfixed and am spending endless hours in its thrall.
The radiation signature in my reactor(s) have been punctuated daily with dramatic excursions as I have reported and referred to as my ‘lovely gammas.’ In response to those ‘lovely gammas’, a now good friend, promptly paid for the purchase of a decent NaI gamma spectrometer. It is an old ‘birdwatchers’ dream come true.

I have worked for a couple of weeks to get comfortable with this new ‘cold fusion birdwatchers tool’ hoping that the gamma spectrums would tell more about the reactions at hand. In fact it has provided such a forest of distinct gamma peaks, as seen in the image at the top of this post. It is clear that cold fusion/lenr is no simple single, or even sparse few reactions. No reductionist science allowed in the cold fusion universe with duck/quark soup that is more like a rich gazpacho than a thin bouillon.
In the plethora of reactions clearly characterized both prompt and delayed gammas as well as neutrons and some as yet unidentified crazy particles are present in abundance. Never have I been more convinced that cold fusion/lenr is a whole ecosystem of nuclear processes that become apparent when very specific environmental conditions are created, all it takes is a proper atom-ecology point of view to succeed. These conditions are quite extraordinary as one might imagine, as were they ordinary cold fusion would have eons ago dominated the universe.
Given the prominence of the unmistakable gammas it seems to me one real mystery of cold fusion/lenr is why no one has been reporting on the obvious prolific reactions so clearly defined in simple gamma spectroscopy studies. Surely the many people claiming to have these reactions in hand have not eschewed using a simple gamma spectrometer to study and refine methods and materials. It is clear that any reaction producing palpable heat, more than a paltry few watts of cold fusion/lenr, will be accompanied with a rich, definitive, and unmistakable gamma spectrum. The simple fact is that if you have the heat you have the gammas!
Alas my simple NaI spectrometer has rather modest energy limits and so I am unable presently to gaze at and identify more energetic gammas, which given the positve identification of those in hand, surely reveal that higer Mev gammas are also to be seen with the proper ‘telescope.’ If anyone would like to loan a proper HPGe with cooling, the species characteristic of cold fusion/lenr is there for the observation and cataloging.
